Loving What You Do

One of the biggest lessons I have learned in running my own business, is that it is important to have a deeply-rooted passion for what you do. As the saying goes, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Without a sincere love for the work at hand, it is difficult to continue to motivate yourself to do all that is required and needed. There is no one cheering you on, except for perhaps your inner self, that reminds you to put one foot in front of the other, and get going, even on days when you do not feel like doing so.Many prospective wedding industry professionals, as well as many wedding clients, think that wedding coordination is like they have seen in the movies: A finely-dressed executive arrives in stiletto heels, with a wireless microphone attached to her head, sweetly directing the day's traffic. While that might seem like an ideal scenario, it is not often a realistic picture.
Work, hard work, and much of it physical, is required, in addition to incredible organizational skills, a definite ability to never procrastinate, and a demeanor that is always calm and confident, even in the most trying of circumstances. I go through three pairs of shoes at every event, and often awake the next day feeling like I have been hit by a truck! However, I always awake with a smile on my face, recalling the details of the wedding from the night before.
I have worn many hats during the many years of being a wedding coordinator, and learned much from each and every experience. I have become a business marketer, a professional coordinator and planner, a confident, a mentor, a designer, a communicator, a liaison, a therapist, a computer tech and a social media marketing guru.
The wonderful thing, is that I absolutely love each and every aspect of this business. The clients, the ability creatively design and coordinate each event, the blessing of being able to assist someone on the most important day in their life, is what keeps me going and loving what I do each and every day.
I look forward with such great excitement and enthusiasm to each and every inquiry, every email, every meeting, every tasting, every phone call, as it means making one more person smile and be stress-free on their wedding day. I have truly never worked a day in my life, as I love what I do with every fiber of my being!
