Kelly & Phil's Thunderbird Lodge Wedding

Image
The historic Thunderbird Lodge, built nearly a century ago, and situated into the granite boulders, on Lake Tahoe's east shore, provided the perfect location for Kelly and Phil's Lake Tahoe destination wedding. As a child, Kelly had heard her family tell stories of this historic location, and it was her dream to one day be married there. Well, today was that day. Kelly and Phil's Lake Tahoe destination wedding, happened on the most perfect of days; sunny skies, and a light breeze coming across the lake from the West. As guests gathered, violins played soft, romantic music, setting the tone for this gorgeous, and memorable lakeside wedding. Delicious food, and dancing through the evening gave guests a fun and fabulous memory celebrating Kelly and Phil's love for one another.   Escort cards are always a nice and personal way to let guests know at which  table they will be sitting for dinner  Color-coordinated shawls provided the lady guests with a warm option, as the even...

Tracey & Jacob's Wedding

Image
Tracey and Jacob chose St.Theresa's Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe as their wedding ceremony location.  Surrounded by their closest friends and family members, this destination wedding was unique and so very special to this kind and wonderful couple. Edgewood Country Club, also on the shore of  South Lake Tahoe, was the special location where they celebrated their marriage, with a fabulous dinner and dancing reception.   Tracey chose soft colors that complimented the venue and its lakeside location. Tracey and Jacob, we thank you for the honor of being with you during this most special time in your life. We wish you happiness as you peruse your life's dreams together as husband and wife. xoxo Liane Liane McCombs Wedding & Event Planning 775-786-1730 lianemccombs@gmail.com Voted Northern Nevada's # 1 Event Coordination Company Wedding Wire 2013 Bridal Choice Award Winner
_ Her Story. "I had found a summer internship at a company up in Oceanside that I was pretty excited about.  June came and went, with no start date from the company.  I was getting really frustrated when I received a call from a manager at Solar Turbines.  He wanted to give me a phone interview for an intern position.  I was a little bit confused because I never applied there, but I decided to do the interview just to brush up on my interviewing skills.  30 minutes later, I was offered the job.  It was a good opportunity and since the other company was dragging their feet, I accepted.  From the moment I got there, Gabe seemed to take an interest in me, and I didn’t really mind it.  He would follow me to the factory floor (although I’m not sure if it was to hang out with me or see the turbine engines) and come over to talk occasionally.  I think his big move happened when he invited me to see his band play, but unfortunately I was busy finishi...

Kristen & Jeremy's Sneak Peek

Image
Here's a little sneak peek about Kristen and Jeremy, as told by the lovely bride-to-be.... "My sister, and our friend Janelle and I went on a road trip to Las Vegas.  When we stopped in Tonopah for gas, the friendly gas station clerk was talking to Janelle and my sister when I walked up.  We had told him we were from the Reno/Sparks area and he said he had planned on moving there within the year.  We found out that he too, belonged to the same church. (LDS).  We told him to look us up, so when he moved, he would have friends to show him around and go to church with.  We gave him our names so he could find us on Facebook, which he did that evening.  A few days later . . . January 5th, 2012 to be exact, he left a video on my wall on Facebook of something we shared nostalgia for (which he saw in my "About Me" section).  Doug, a cartoon from the 90's we both loved.  I commented on the photo, ...

Wedding Reception Centerpieces

Image
A centerpiece is defined as a "decorative piece or display placed in the middle of a dining or serving table". Obviously, that definition is not entirely true because it is so much more than that! You, your guests, or your event client should be the center of attention, but a centerpiece can be a huge aspect in creating a breathtaking event. Many event designs begin with, or at the very least, include the centerpiece design that will make your event a stand-out! There are two guiding factors that can help determine what piece is appropriate for your event: your budget and the type of event. Floral arrangements and grand chandelier tabletops can truly impact your spending in a dramatic way, although, arguably, they can be the most expensive. Every bride should consider what will make the most impact, while still remaining cost effective. A themed event is a huge trend and makes your planning a bit more focused. As your planner, we will incorporate the theme appropriately, usin...

Loving What You Do

Image
One of the biggest lessons I have learned in running my own business, is that it is important to have a deeply-rooted passion for what you do. As the saying goes, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Without a sincere love for the work at hand, it is difficult to continue to motivate yourself to do all that is required and needed. There is no one cheering you on, except for perhaps your inner self, that reminds you to put one foot in front of the other, and get going, even on days when you do not feel like doing so. Many prospective wedding industry professionals, as well as many wedding clients, think that wedding coordination is like they have seen in the movies: A finely-dressed executive arrives in stiletto heels, with a wireless microphone attached to her head, sweetly directing the day's traffic. While that might seem like an ideal scenario, it is not often a realistic picture. Work, hard work, and much of it physical, is required...

Kelly & Phil's Wedding

We had the distinct privilege of assisting Kelly and Phil at their wedding at the historic Thunderbird Lodge on the rocky shores of Lake Tahoe. What a spectacular setting and the most perfect of days for this great couple to be married!

Creating a Unique Wedding

Image
When coordinating just the Day Of the wedding, where the bride and groom have done all their own leg-work, we are always thrilled when we arrive at a wedding to see unique personalization and the couple's style showing in every element.  To arrive, seeing copy-cat centerpieces on each table, round tables set systematically around the dance floor, for that matter, any element that does not show creativity, makes the event seem like a convention luncheon, rather than a unique wedding reception.  With today's technology allowing couples more creative inspiration than they could imagine, there should be no reason why their style is not represented in every element of the day.   When we are involved to a greater degree, with complete wedding planning and coordination, we are always certain to have the bridal couple's taste, style, and theme evident throughout the space, so that when guests arrive, there is no doubt as to whose event they are attending. Lake Tahoe Destination Wedding

Image
One of the benefits of being a destination wedding specialist, is working with the most amazing and diverse couples! We often work with couples who reside out of our region, and frequently reside out of the country. One such couple, whose wedding will remain as one of our top wedding memories, was an International couple who desired to have their destination wedding at Lake Tahoe. The bride's home was in England, and the groom, resided in Italy. Excitement is enhanced, and our creative juices really flow, when we realize the importance of such an event. Not to be misunderstood, we sincerely consider all our clients to be of equal importance, but we knew this was going to be a very special event! We were thrilled to help design and coordinate this Lake Tahoe destination wedding for this amazing couple. We incorporated the Tahoe Indian heritage and traditions with Native American Indian drummers, who in authentic dress, entertained guests during the cocktail and appetizer hour. Se...

Family Roles on the Wedding Day

Image
One important element that every potential wedding client should know, is that family and friends should be guests at the wedding, not vendors. When a client suggests that they want to save money by having family or friends do the work of a professional wedding vendor, on their wedding day, it is a Red Flag of warning.  Those, who insist on using such friends or family members as wedding day vendors, need to know that those people will have to assume the role of a true professional on the wedding day. That role would incorporate all professional behaviors to include no drinking, no smoking, no dancing with the guests.  Dressed like a professional, these helpers would need to be completely devoted to the task at hand, and remain professional throughout the entire event.    Wi th the ever-changing economy still forcing couples to consider using family and/or friends to work as vendors on their wedding day, we see this scenario more often than we prefer....

2013-2014 Wedding Trends

Image
Today's bride and groom now have the ability to incorporate so many personal details into their wedding day. The day of cookie-cutter weddings are over!   Matchy-matchy "everything" is also gone, and replaced with versatile, personal decor and design.  With the birth of the Shabby Chic wedding movement, clients have now been given the license to mix the old with the new, the elegant with the shabby, and still have an amazing, classic wedding day.  With current popular wedding themes to include Heirloom, Enchanted, Eco Chic and Steam Punk, the possibility of a boring wedding day is a thing of the past! Incorporating furniture and personal home decor into wedding design, allows the personality of a couple to shine.  Our objective, as a wedding coordinatio n professional, is to have all guests totally recognize and understand, when they walk into the wedding ceremony or reception space, that those spaces reflect the personality and style of the speci...

Technology and Today's Bride

Image
Today's technology has become a bride's best friend. Personal online wedding websites, many of which are free and available through many online sites, offer brides and grooms the ability to create a personal website, which allows them to more easily connect with family and wedding guests, giving them pertinent information regarding their wedding day details.  Individual wedding websites have also become a integral part of the wedding RSVP process, saving couples money typically spent on RSVP cards, envelopes and stamps. With the explosion of Pinterest, which has arguably become, the most important and viable resource for a bride searching for wedding styles and wedding decor elements, technology has again been at the forefront and offers a multiplicity of choices at the click of a mouse.  B rides are encouraged to limit their wedding style and decor research to include just one resource method, either via the Internet or magazines. Too many choices can certainly overwh...
